How safe is Iran?
Iran is a safe country for tourists by many standards, with a very low level of theft and robbery.
However it is wise to take the same sort of security precautions that you would elsewhere.
I am a senior citizen. Would travelling to Isfahan be suitable for me?
Isfahan is a city friendly to senior travellers. Generally speaking, if you feel that you are fit enough to visit
a similarly-sized Western city, you will certainly feel comfortable in Isfahan, and in the position to enjoy the
city as much as younger travellers. The only concern might come from travelling distances by plane which, depending on
where you are based, can be long and fatiguing.
Dibai House is a single-storey building, so it has only a limited number of steps (to the basement mainly), and because the house has a central location, walking distances are short, and in any case taxi services are readily available and inexpensive.
How is the the climate of Isfahan?
Spring and autumn have temperate and pleasing temperatures. Winters are fairly cold, specially at night,
with temperatures around 5º C / 41º F. Summers are quite hot, and it is better to avoid the high summer months of July and August.
Rainfalls occur mostly during spring, and are nearly non-existent in summer.
How should I dress while in Iran?
Dress is casual though conservative.
Females should wear long, loose clothes and a foulard, scarf-shawl or similar covering their hair
(this is required by the law of the country). Men should not wear short or three-quarter length trousers.
Avoid particularly loud colours. It is a good idea to wear light fabric in summer.
How is the food in Isfahan? What are the local specialities? Where to eat and drink around Dibai House?
Iranian cuisine is generally highly regarded. It is particularly healthy,
with use of rice, fresh ingredients and only limited amount of red meat
and fat.
Isfahan offers a fairly good range of restaurants, tea houses, fast food outlets and cake shops that cater for every taste
and budget. Many are within a walking distance of Dibai House, whereas others, particularly those in the New Quarter, are
accessible by bus or taxi.
Can you organise a visit or excursion to a venue, attraction or town other than those listed in the 'Excursions' page?
Yes, we will do our best to provide such arrangement for you. Otherwise, we will try to find a third party
(travel agent, guide, etc.) who could fulfil your request. We have organised in the past visits to, amongst others, a traditional
glass factory, a carpet handicrafts workshop and performances of traditional music.
Do you accept credit cards or travellers cheques?
We regret that at this moment we can accept cash only.
Ideally, how for how long should I stay in Isfahan so that I can see most of it?
On average our guest stay in Isfahan for three nights. Some stop over just for two nights, or even one, whereas others
choose to sojourn for four or five nights, a week or even longer.
It will certainly depend on your travel plans, schedule, budget, etc.; but considering the size of the city and the amount of attractions, monuments, activities and the like it offers, a good rule of thumb is to stay at least four days.
